Project Title

Developing Dynamic Web-GIS based Early Warning System for the Communities at Landslide Risks in Chittagong Metropolitan Area, Bangladesh

Project Background

This is a small grants project funded by the US Agency for International Development (USAID) in association with National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and assisted by the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD). The aim of this project is to develop a dynamic early warning system for the landslide vulnerable communities in Chittagong Metropolitan Area (CMA), Chittagong, Bangladesh.

Project Objectives

To produce landslide susceptibility maps of Chittagong City.

To study human adaptation to landslide risks under the condition of rapid urbanization and torrential rainfall.

To assess community needs for effective implementation of early warning system for landslide
